Snow Characteristics Comments
Old snow had a maximum depth of 4cm, with moister snow on the bottom and a 1cm lighter-and-whiter-layer on the top. Some minimal faceting on coldest aspects, but surface likely to be melted and crusted by the time new snow arrives on Tuesday. General distribution: 9,200 ft marks the lower limit, with majority of the snow in upper NE through NW (particularly where trees or adjacent terrain provide shade). Cover is patchy and broken by vegetation and rock outcroppings.
Overview shot of pre-storm snow. Look at the line between snow and dry ground on Catherine's pass for a good aspect index.
10,420 ridge. Likely destination of ambitious snowboarder we spotted leaving Guardsman's.
Mark White must have skied east facing South Monitor: no tracks visible on the remaining NNE snow.
