I'm expecting that avalanches will be likely today, especially on steep slopes with recent wind deposits. I have issued an Avalanche Warning as well. We quit issuing regular avalanche advisories on April 1st, so I will post observations here so you can keep up on conditions.

We've had a foot of snow overnight and expect perhaps another 6 inches today. Wind has been blowing from the northwest 20, gusting to 30 on most ridge top weather stations with 30, gusting to 40 on the exposed peaks. I'm guessing that you will find wind slabs 1-2 feet deep, which will likely slide easily on the old, icy snow.

Remember that closed ski areas are not doing any avalanche control so treat them like backcountry.
