Snow Characteristics Comments

Another day of trying to find some soft smooth snow to ski. By the time I left at 5 pm most slopes had softened despite the high clouds and wind. I found soft supportable snow to ski. The underlying snow surface that will hopefully be buried by the new snow is rather smooth in most places despite the plethora of old tracks. I would think that during and after the storm the skiing will be pretty good if you can find places without buried hazards such as avalanche debris, rocks, trees, etc.

Red Flags Comments
I found mostly supportable snow today besides in obvious locations where there was thin cover with rocks and foliage. I would say a red flag would be hitting obstacles where you would not expect them typically this time of year, especially after the new snow we are expected to get falls. We are now moving into a new pattern of new snow avalanches...

These photos are here to highlight the coverage of some areas in the Wasatch.
