Snow Characteristics Comments

About 8 to 10 inches of super light density snow that had dried out even more over night, south facing didn't even seem to get damp today, not enough direct sun, and fairly cold temps.

Comments

Went to No Name knowing that the north facing snow was faceted before the storm which means no bottom feeding and fairly long running sluffs in steeper terrain. There was about 5 inches at the trail head increasing to 8 to 10 at 9800ft. The wind was blowing a bit on the ridge line of Scotts peak but once we got to No Name the wind wasn't a factor and the snow was blower with no wind effect. Only instability noted was sluffing in the steeper terrain. Because the new snow was resting on facets the sluffs were running quite a distance and entraining a decent amount of snow, but they were totally manageable and not much of a factor. Photos, mid-level cloud hanging to the east over Park City and the Uintas, sluffing of the new snow with facets underlying it.
