Knew it was going to be a frozen waste land in the hills today but went out anyway for some fresh air and sun. The melt freeze crust on E through S through W stayed fairly bullet proof all day, still finding pockets of soft snow on shady N, NE, old tracks are pretty firm and best to be avoided. The Graupel layer that was deposited last week is still intact on the cold dry north, making for interesting skinning on all aspects. As I noted before the upper elevation protected north facing is starting to facet and sluff out easily, might want to keep an eye on this small amount of faceted terrain if it ever snows, but it looks like the sun and heat might bake it down before any new measurable snow. Would think with warming temperatures that there will be a window of corn skiing tomorrow, corns in place just need some more heat to make it pop. Photos, nice day in the mountains but not so user friendly, still some soft snow to be had.
Slide for life seems to be the only hazard right now.
