Snow Characteristics Comments

Nice settled powder on wind protected high NE through NW, melt freeze crust or damp on E through W depending on time of day. Soft snow on the north end of the compass is a mixture of graupel and settled powder, not noticing much faceting on the surface due to warm temperatures.

Comments

Went to Days Fork because it holds a lot of NE and N facing terrain wanted to stay out of the sun and in the shade. There was a short window of corn on the south and south east facing below 10200ft time frame was from about 10:00am to 11:30am, southwest went off a little later, snow wasn't quite cooked out enough above that elevation. Only signs of instabilities noted was sluffing in the steeper terrain but this was only minor and not packing much of a punch. The graupel layer from Mondays storm is still intact on the shady north, making skinning some what slippery. Skin wax is a good call for going from the wet snow on the south into dry snow on the north. Photo graupel layer still intact.
