Snow Characteristics Comments

In protected north facing trees above ~8200 feet snow was still soft, not wind affected, and skied very well. Aspects other than north and lower elevations were a different story and usually had a soft temperature crust.

None to really speak of today.
Avalanche Problem #1
Problem #1 Comments

Not an avalanche problem right now, but surface snow was somewhat weak. Skinning didn't feel like being in a sandbox so it could have been worse..

Comments

The most interesting part of this profile was finding relatively large, preserved near surface facets from prior to the January 12th storm. These were not reactive to in snowpit tests.

I also used this pit to compare the PST to the CST and had similar results on both pits. The requested data elements are below,

Regular ECTX: ECTX

Standard PST: 80/100

Crosscut PST:85/100

Slope angle: 20

Stability on similar slopes: Good
