Red Flags Comments
Wind loading wasn't an issue where we were but the north winds were moving snow. Cracking and collapsing were localized and not a worry. Poor snowpack structure but no load to activate weak layers.

Comments

Metamorphosing snow crystals beneath melt/freeze crust from 1/6. This layer and just above the crust were the weakest interfaces in snow pit tests. Moderate to hard effort to fail, sudden collapse and Q2 quality shears. Not a worry right now but may be something to watch for in the future.

Surface and near surface faceting occurring with a little surface hoar mixed in here and there. North winds moving snow today on the ridges and somewhat mid slope on north aspects.

The upper portion of the snowpack is experiencing a strong temperature gradient and is becoming weaker but it is not posing a problem right now.

Low danger and isolated pockets of moderate danger over the next couple of days.
