Snow Characteristics Comments

About 2 to 3 inches of graupel from yesterdays little disturbance, mixed in with surface hoar and recrystalized powder. Wind crust are breaking down but not everywhere, never got warm enough to make things damp.

Comments

Headed to the PC Ridgeline today hoping the wind crust was recrystalizing and the added graupel on the snow surface would improve riding conditions which it did. The surface snow in No Name is faceting out and getting rather loose, sluffing in the steeper terrain was the norm, surface hoar was noted on almost all aspects. The starting zone in No Name is thin and shallow and whole snow pack is starting to rot out in this thin area, not a real good thing with no snow in the forecast, by the time it snows the whole slope might be unsupportable, which is not good, guess we will have to wait and see what happens. No red flags today just the faceting that might haunt us when we get a decent load. Photos sluffing in the steeper terrain, pools of graupel collecting in USA Bowl, surface hoar growth on all aspects, even south.
