Another day up on Duke. I headed from Marion this time. The coverage is very thin at the trailhead. Up high the snow was about 15 inches deep and upside down. There is a rain crust below the top 1-2 inches of snow all the way up to 10600. I dug at about 10300 feet on a 28 degree NW slope. HS 115 cm. 40 cm new since the last storm. Results were ECTP11 Resistant Planar on the new snow old snow interface. No other layers failed. A strong shovel sheer on the remaining extended column pulled out the entire snow pack. The depth hoar continues to grow larger. Riming is wide spread on the high elevation NW facing trees.
