Snow Characteristics Comments
Ski whatever snow you want out there. Fast "loud powder" on north aspects and in shaded trees, creamy soft on south aspects, breakable wind crust over facets in exposed western bowl, and bullet proof ice (with rocks) on the out track. Patchwork of surface hoar in the drainage. Difficult putting in new uphill track: Snow was sticking mercilessly to skins on south aspects, and on the steeper north the skis wont stick to the hillside due to slippery near-surface facets.
Comments
Short pictorial Q & A: What does the snow surface look like?
Is the snow pack settling?
Is it warm enough for roller balls to form....on N and NE facing slopes?!
Is skin wax worth its weight?
