Snow Characteristics Comments
While a foot or so may have fallen prior to our arrival in the morning, I would say there was an average new loose snow depth of somewhere around 5" on the west/northwest slopes we skied at an elevation of around 7500-8900'. The remainder of the loose new snow was already either compacted or blown off from the wind.

Comments
Did not see any signs of instability in the snowpack other than a few surface cracks of only a few inches depth in a few spots along our skin track. Poor visibility so could not see any adjacent slopes. Sorry Toby, a few others were out enjoying the mountains...interesting that we did not observe any of the gropel or surface riming you saw at Tony Grove.
Danger rating is for slopes we skied.
