Snow Characteristics Comments

A real mixed bag with the snow surface today. Seemed like a rime event occurred in this area. In places the crust was up to 1/8" thick. Made for interesting skiing. Crust found only on open slopes above 7800'. In the trees snow pack was variable from supportable facets to total unsupportable facets to the ground.

Also interesting surface of the settling snow. I think the more stout crust sitting on the facets is creeping and making great looking snow surface. Kinda like a rug that has been wrinkled up.

Do not know if there was any sort of rime event but there is no other way I can explain the crust I found today.

Looks like another crust layer is in place here. However with no snow in the future it will rot away as well.

Generally a low danger situation... unless you chose to up the ante.
