Dug a quick hand pit on the steep section that is sorta mandatory on the Porter Fork approach to Raymond Glade (due north at about 8500 or so) and got a super clean shear about a foot or so down. Took a bit of effort to get the block to pull out, but it was so clean and nice that any less effort to pull it out woulda made me nervous.
Avalanche Problem #1
Problem #1 Comments

Not really sure.....It didn't feel much like a slab since the new (now old) snow is indeed deteriorating somewhat and it's capped by a rime crust, but the quick hand pit was a little unnerving. Isolated tho; other comparable "pits" didn't show that as much.

Comments

The E. facing shots off Raymond have been skied hard, and we skied one lower off the shoulder. Different aspect than what we had climbed/skied earlier, but given the info that we had it seemed ok. No rollerballing on the due south aspects even late, despite the high temps/no wind.
