Snow Characteristics Comments

The tricky rain crust conditions persist at mid to upper elevations. After over a week, the tenacity of this crust seems to be finally weakening (or, perhaps, I am just getting accustomed to skiing it?).

Snow settlement is slowly occurring, but poor snow structure still predominates.

No avalanche warning signs observed. The only thing moving is a small amount of wind transported snow and an unseen medium-sized quadriped (presumably searching for breakfast) whose fresh canine footprints ascend the skin track in front of me.

Problem #1 Comments

At higher elevations, especially near the ridge line, recent wind deposited snow might be unstable enough to be triggered by a skier on slopes of 35 degrees or steeper.
