A wide variety of snow surface conditions,with soft recrystallized snow and grauple on northerly facing shady slopes. Minimal rime crust. Hard wind slabs along the ridge lines, damp snow on solar aspects.

Comments

Northerly facing slopes...the now common theme of pole to the ground, basket side down, continues in this area. Lots of spacial variation, hard to find a "typical" spot on this tour with such a generally shallow snow pack. Areas shallower then about 18" are completely faceted, elsewhere the pack is more layered, with somewhat of a mid pack slab. Current weather forecast will continue the faceting process.
