Snow Characteristics Comments

Old snow on northerly facing slopes from around Halloween is faceted and weak, with a thin m/f crust on terrain that got some solar warming this week. Around 4 inches of new snow now capping it.

Comments

The few inches of new snow helped turning conditions drastically, and for the first time this season, we found smooth areas above the Tony Grove Campground where we could actually link up a few turns.

A significant storm forecast for this weekend will open up more terrain, but also cause a rising avalanche danger especially on upper elevation north facing slopes with preexisting weak snow.
