Snow Characteristics Comments

Snow cover still too shallow...... <1' even up high. The shallow snow from last week is subjected to a strong temperature gradient and the snow crystals are rapidly becoming faceted and weak.

Avalanche Problem #1
Problem
Persistent Weak Layer
Problem #1 Comments

There may be a few slopes at the highest elevations with enough snow to produce shallow and pockety wind slab avalanches, but you'd have to work hard and travel pretty far over rocks to get up to one of these slopes today....

Comments

The highest peaks look pretty white, but the early season snow cover is still very thin.......
