Snow Characteristics Comments

Snow was light to medium density and about 7 to 8 inches deep when I left, definitely not enough or dense enough to keep you from bottom feeding on the old frozen surface.

Comments

Walked up from Alta to Cardiff Peak, skied off the north side a little sluffing but very minor, new snow was well bonded to the old damp surface. Same results on the SE facing, except the underlying old snow surface was more stout and not as smooth, still bottom feeding on both aspects. No cracking or collapsing noted. New snow was none wind effected and not slabbed up, that may change with more snow and the strong E-NE winds predicted for tonight. Could have used a heffty garbage bag to stay dry today, damp and somewhat humid feeling. Only action noted today sluffing of the new snow in the steepest terrain.
