Zipper crusts or more on all but the most Northerly and protected aspects. Still found some creamy snow. Snow is cohesive and difficult to move on steeper pitches.

Problem #1 Comments

For our tour, it seemed the lower avalanche rating combined with potential deeper instabilities were our biggest hazard today. We needed to consciously force ourselves to think and investigate a bit. Overall, the stability was good. A few hand shears on the pink pine ridge showed cohesion between the layers and did not reveal any instability. Ski cuts in steep terrain also showed good stability.

Comments

We did find a bit of surface hoar development up on the ridge- most of it was getting blasted by the sun, but the shady spots still had a little nestled in the trees.
