Not much to report at this time. Things are fairly quiet.

I've noted that the snow surface around Provo Canyon has not been deteriorating at a rapid rate. That is, near surface faceting is occurring but hasn't produced a very advanced faceted grain at this point. The steepest northeast slopes will sluff slightly if disturbed but are not entraining enough snow to produce a loose snow avalanche.

What I have been noticing is that there has been a large amount of settlement over the last few weeks. I've been finding more and more areas where the snowpack is in the 2' deep range, most pronounced along ridges and mid slope breakovers where the entire snowpack is starting to facet to the point where your skis are punching through to near the ground. At this point it seems like there's potential for booby traps where a lot of the starting zones have a decent structure but down the slope on terrain features there is a thinner and weaker structure that may collapse with a medium new snow load.

I've also noted that terrain below about 7500' contains a thin and weak snowpack structure. I've felt comfortable traveling through gullies and terrain traps but the snow is weak enough that I would not consider this in the event we get a foot of new snow or so in the future.
