Snow Characteristics
Snow Surface Conditions
Faceted Loose
Snow Characteristics Comments
Did a morning lap in one of the steep N facing gullies below Providence Canyon quarry. Although the snow depth was about two feet, similar to many other places at this time, it was faceted to the rocks below on most of the terrain I covered this morning. Turns often dropped me to the rocks below, although the rime crust was absent and the turns tended to be better than many other places in the range that are plagued by the Tuesday rime event 11 days ago.
Red Flags
Red Flags
Poor Snowpack Structure
Red Flags Comments
Easy sluffing in steep terrain.
