Red Flags Comments
We experienced both collapsing and cracking of the snow. Wind was transporting snow but drifts were shallow and stubborn.
Comments
Did not find any crusts in test pits. Pits failed at the ground or on large grain facets about 15" from the ground on 1F snow. CT9-21. Travel was from 7700 to 10,000 ft. Skied NE thru N facing slopes up to 38 degrees in pitch.
Cracking continues out of view in both photos, wrapping around terrain features. It's a little hard to see in the bottom photo.
