Natural sloughing observed, initiating at rock outcropping high on the Soldier Peak headwall into Anchors Away. New snow ran on supportive crust (rain crust?), but did not break into deeper layers. Whoomping observed on single occasion, crossing through fresh snow over the crust, at 9100', north-facing, in heavy wooded pine terrain (old growth), 35-38 degrees. The collapse did not trigger sloughing.
