Snow Characteristics Comments
The new snow was very light and was not forming a slab. I was unable to find anyplace above 8000 feet where there was old snow from November. There was 95 cm of snow all from these late December storms. There was a small either melt freeze crust or rain crust at 40cm. On the way back down I did notice some cracking along the trail in steeper places after I went by I think it was just in the new snow finally overloading.
