New snow was right side up, fairly light density and non wind affected in the areas traveled today. Ski penetration was 12 to 15 inches, really good riding conditions.
Comments
Skied S facing across from Alta today, trail breaking was not bad except were you had to break through drifted snow, mainly on the lee side of ridges, and terrain features. Seems to me that the structure of the snow pack on the South end of the compass in upper LCC is fairly stable, at least in the areas covered today, Cardiff Bowl, East Hellgate, and Toledo Bowl, mainly new snow on a bomber base. No cracking or collapsing noted today. Only instability was sluffing in the steeper terrain, but it had to be quite steep, and still the sluffs were not running that fast or packing much of a punch.
