Weather Comments
Nice weather, with a bit of winter nip. Clouds usually obscuring Central Bear River Range Crest, but good visibility above Bear Lake. The approaching winter storm, with heavy snowfall and strong winds, will quickly make yesterday's snow stability observation obsolete...

Snow Characteristics Comments
Nice powder conditions in the ENE facing bowls. Shallow, bushy, and windswept in places on the west facing ascent\descent route....

Poor Snowpack Structure
Red Flags Comments
We found some areas with rather poor snow structure, especially in shallow mid-elevation areas. But, we observed no other obvious signs of instability... The rapid addition of weight to the snowpack from heavy snow and wind-loading in the next couple days could activate buried thin sugary or faceted layers.
Comments
Here's a short video showing a snow pit (ECT test) in the ENE facing slope at around 8400' in elevation...

A good day for learning about avalanches, riding in nice powder, and checking out the amazing views. All-in-all a great field day in the Logan backcountry.
