Snow Characteristics Comments
Snow amounts went from 2 inches at Solitude to a mighty 4 inches in the top of West Monitor. Not quite sure where the inch of water weight went, not seeing it in todays travels, unless it all came in the form of rain. Rain crust was felt in the bottom of West Monitor under the new snow.
Basically not enough snow load to change things much from the previous days. Thinking most of the actual snow fell after the wind had subsided. Did not note much wind loading or cornice building from yesterdays strong winds, not much loose snow on the South end of the compass to transport. New snow was sluffing on steeper terrain but not moving very fast or packing much punch. Only one small collapse noted on the rigeline of W Monitor. Pic skier initiated sluff W Monitor.
