Snow surface started out very supportable and mostly melt-freeze crust. We worked the slopes to try and hit the soft snow before it got too mushy. We were finding later in the afternoon on south and west facing slopes (9,990') especially near trees and barely covered rocks and logs where we were sinking through (trap door) with a snowmobile and once you stepped off the sled you were sinking to the ground on the southerly facing slopes.

We found about 4.5' (140cm) of snow on northwest facing slopes around 9,800 and in more wind swept places at slightly lower elevations we found closer to 2.5' ( 80cm) of snow.
