Snow Characteristics Comments

Transitional spring-like conditions out there with developing corn on southeast through southwest aspects that still hold snow. Many southerlies are bare ground. North and easterly aspects are a mix of mush and crusts. All surfaces have been affected by the heat.

South aspects on Mount Tomasaki looking particularly bare.

Mount Tomasaki SW and NW aspects.

North faces of the Middle Group from left to right: Peale, Mellenthin, Tukuhnikivatz, Tukno.

Red Flags
Red Flags
Poor Snowpack Structure
Red Flags Comments
Poor snowpack structure remains on northerly aspects near treeline and above with well preserved, dry, faceted weak layers. The greatest concern is above treeline where hard slabs 2'-4' thick exist over these weak layers.
Comments

I dug this pit on an east aspect at 11,400 (Near Treeline). No slab existed but still plenty of weak, dry facets underneath.
