I was very surprised at how poor the structure remained in the snowpack in this area. Despite a moderate danger, this PWL is still a red flag for me.

We were a bit tight on time, but wanted to see if the PWL was still prevalent in the snowpack. Our plan was to dig a quick pit and move on. I was very surprised at how weak and fully faceted this layer continues to be. We spent a little more time than expected looking at the snowpack. In addition to the Dry January PWL, there is a very thin layer of facets that sits above the 130cm rain crust. I wish we had time to conduct an ECT, it would have been great information to share. I am hoping to get out to this zone tomorrow and will test the propagation.
