The lighter snow is easily drifted, even by moderate winds blowing from the west.

  • Despite the lack of snow at lower elevations, there's plenty of coverage up high. In fact, with 80" of total snow, the Tony Grove Lake Snotel reports 94% of average SWE for the date.
  • We found very nice, over-the-hood, deep powder riding in the meadows, and we stayed in safe terrain, off of, well away from, and out from under slopes steeper than 30 degrees.
