Weather Comments
More mild temperatures to start the day, a few high clouds early then a bit more cloud cover. The winds were only in the light category off the ridges, but I could hear the winds blowing stronger along the ridge tops.

Snow Characteristics Comments

The surface snow has continued to weaken on the cold shady aspects that see little sun this time of year. A pretty stout melt freeze crust on the sunny side of the compass did soften a little today.

No red flags that I observed today while out in the Whitney Area. Things seemed status quo right now until winter makes a return next week when things could change quickly.

Comments

Another nice day on the north slope in the Whitney Basin with nice recycled powder conditions on the cooler aspects with a sun crust in most other areas. Not much traffic around the area and maybe riders are holding out for more snow that hopefully comes next week.

Some old avalanche debris on the north side of Moffit Peak, likely from a cornice fall that triggered a deeper slide.

Maybe a shallow wind slab that started higher up on the slope. This side of Moffit Peak does not see much sun this time of year and the surface snow is very weak and has no cohesion.
