Snow Characteristics Comments

Hard surfaces like old tracks are starting to degrade, facet, and become softer. Still very variable conditions overall with wind buff, MF crusts, etc. Finding soft recrystallized powder in shaded terrain. Was expecting breakable crust during the W facing exit, but found sun-softened snow by mid to late afternoon. Monitoring the weak surface snow continues.

Snowpit stability tests yielded no results, though we are keeping an eye on a few different weak layers, including SH, NSFs, RR, and a buried graupel layer just above the Xmas rain crust. It's hard to see without performing an ECT or CT, then levering out the slab.

This area is more baked by the sun than affected by the wind. The fetch is hammered with tracks, and there is very little snow available for transport.
