Calm and clear most of the day. Some high clouds and slight wind rolled in during the afternoon. Temperatures were quite warm and I only needed a base layer while ascending.
Snow Characteristics
Snow Surface Conditions
Faceted Loose
Snow Characteristics Comments

There was maybe an inch or so from Wednesday but for the most part, the snowpack is faceted. At lower elevations (<9K), this made skinning like walking in very loose sand which was slow going.

Not much in the way of wind affected snow along treed ridgelines up to 10K.

South facing was getting warm by noon.

Red Flags Comments
So much faceted snow. At higher elevations snow did seem a little more dense and supportable.

Comments

The first picture is a loose avalanche was perhaps from Wednesday or Thursday. There was maybe only an inch or so of new snow but the existing surface is so weak which maybe contributed.

The second picture is a of an loose avalanche from a couple weeks ago but also probably failed on weak surface snow.
