Weather Comments
The sun tried to poke out occasionally this morning, but then overcast skies took over for the rest of the day. Light wind down low in the drainages with consistently moderate wind from the Southwest on ridge lines. There were a couple of strong Southwest gusts while I was up there too. Light snowfall started falling as I was exiting the field around 2pm.

Surface conditions on solar aspects ranged from a breakable crust, to wind scoured and very firm, to bare ground and rock in some places. Lots of frozen tracks. Conditions on polar aspects were wind affected up high with faceted/recycled powder in sheltered terrain.

Problem #1 Comments

The only thing of note I found today was small, dry loose avalanching on steep north facing slopes. Greater than 35 degrees. The snow was fast moving and would run long distances.

Comments

Heads up: a couple of moose (cow and her calf) hanging out close to the main skin track. Give lots of space, take it from me, I've been chased too many times.
