Weather Comments
West wind was raging along ridge tops. It was strong enough to make conversation difficult and really make you want to loose elevation fast. Place looked like a hurricane passed through, down trees, branches and needles on the forest floor. Ive never seen wind move gravel/rocks like it has up there. It was transporting 8mm rocks with ease and evidence was all over the place.

Snow Characteristics Comments

This is the most beat up I have ever seen the snow in the Uintas. On every aspect at almost every elevation it was wind stripped, crusty, and generally beat up. The snow was so bad we were wishing we had ski crampons. Any bit of transportable snow was pressed into windboard. Travel is getting pretty treacherous.

Comments

There were large branches blown off trees and sitting on the forest floor. Tons of trees toppled by wind.

South facing stripped of snow, North facing absolutely destroyed by wind. Not easy to find snow to turn in. We traveled on every aspect and elevation today between sleds and skis and could literally not find more than a 20 feet of continuous soft snow.

Gravel being blown around and eddying out in some scallops.
