Special Announcements

Welcome back.... we missed you! But in your absence we've revamped our website. It might take a minte or two to get used to and I bet you'll find it very intuitive and user friendly.
In addition, we've been working hard on a couple of special events. First in the queue is The Boondockers annual premeire on Thursday October 25th. We're back at Brewvies and all the details are found here.
Next up is our 11th Annual Utah Snow and Avalanche Workshop (USAW) on Saturday October 27th at the Mountain America Expo Center in Sandy. Yep... the same day and location as the Intermountain Snowmobile Show
The morning offers a two hour long sled specific avy breakout session with topics pretinent to all mountain riding and avalanche safety. Afterwards, you can roll into the general session for an all you can eat avalanche buffet that runs 'til 4:00. More details and registration are found here.
In addiiton, I wanna give a big shout out to Mike Poulsen and Tri-City Performance in partnership with Polaris who have supported the UAC for over a decade. Mike and his team generously donated two new "loaner" sleds for us to use this winter. This vital partnership allows forecasters see more terrain, issue more accurate forecasts, and ultimately save more lives.
Weather and Snow
While you were away, the mountains stacked up about 2' of snow since the beginning of October. There's just enough snow to ride, so that means there's enough snow to slide... though your odds of slamming into a season ending rock or stump are far greater. In either case, this is a great time of year to dust off your avalanche gear and make sure everything is in good working order.
Remember- just 'cause you can see your rig from a near-by ridge, doesn't mean it's full on green light and good to go. The western Uintas are white from far, but far from white. And yes... the rocks are bigger than the snow is deep.
