Forecast for the Skyline Area Mountains

There is a MODERATE avalanche danger on the Manti Skyline today.
Continued warming temperatures could make the snowpack become unstable. It is very difficult to predict natural wet snow avalanche activity. My best guess is that if the snowpack becomes unstable from warm temperatures, it may not be until Monday or Tuesday.
Here is what to look out for:
  1. Any recent avalanches. If you see avalanches, then more avalanches are likely.
  2. If you find yourself in really wet, punchy and sloppy snow where you are penetrating really deep into the snowpack, it is time to avoid being on OR BELOW steep slopes.

Weather and Snow
Current Conditions: Temperatures did not get below freezing in a number of locations last night. This will cause the snow to soften and get sloppy earlier today.

Mountain Weather: Anticipate clear skies, light southerly wind and temperatures into the upper 40s today. Warming continues over the next few days.
