The overall danger rating is LOW today.
LOW danger does not mean NO DANGER.
If you're looking for trouble in the steepest most radical terrain, you can probably find it.
If you're not looking to get too rowdy out there, you'll have safe avalanche conditions.

Weather and Snow
Current Conditions: Tuesday was cold with excellent powder conditions. I did get a few reports from people who were traveling in terrain on the east side of the Skyline who said the underlying snow felt quite stiff under the new snow and didn't provide as good of riding conditions as locations on the west side of the Skyline. Wind has been calm to light in speed from the northwest. Overnight temperatures were in the single digits.
Mountain Weather: We'll have more sunshine today with temperatures getting into the mid 20s. Northwest wind should remain relatively light. The rest of the week looks pretty nice. The next chance for snow is during a storm shaping up for Sunday night.
Recent Avalanches
The only avalanche activity that I've seen is minor surface sluffing of the top few inches of the newest snow. I have not seen any slab avalanche activity.

Description
The majority of the terrain on the Skyline has a stable snowpack. There are a few minor things to watch for today:
  • Minor fresh drifts of wind blown snow along the higher, most exposed very steep terrain could crack out on you.
  • Direct sun could produce some wet loose slides. Avoid being in confined terrain like gullies and ravines where a wet slide could pile up deep.
Keep in mind that when the avalanche danger is lower, people tend to choose higher consequence terrain. There is always an inherent risk when you are getting into very steep radical terrain. Unless you are really pushing the limits today, you will enjoy safe avalanche conditions.
