From the involved skier - The rime rain crust that the snow failed on was easy to find on the uphill when setting skinner (which should have been a warning sign) and in our downhill turns. After 2 turns down Toledo Chute (right past the trees at the top), a wind slab collapsed on the rain crust and moved quickly enough on steep/icy terrain that wasn’t able to catch myself or gain enough edge to ski out of it. At that point, I started to slide down the chute around 200 feet. I was able to catch myself (red X) before gaining too much speed or hitting any rocks. During the slide, I was able to turn myself around to face the snow and get one of my poles/both of my boots through the crust. One of my skies stayed on via leash so I was able to ski down the chute after recovery. Feeling lucky walk away from this with no injury, could have easily had serious harm from hitting rocks in the chute or been partially/fully buried in the terrain trap below (old mining road).

More comments from the involved skier: The skier caught and carried in main Toledo and I were in the same party. I had planned on watching him and our other two partners ski the main face before going to ski the chute so that I could observe the snow stability and have them at the bottom of the chute in turn to watch me. I was the first one up there and was waiting at the top of the main face, got impatient while they were transitioning above the tower and decided to go over above the chute out of sight of them to start getting ready. I think part of what was pushing me to go faster was the lack of expected wind/cold temps getting me over excited to ski that day mixed with others heading up our skinner making me feel some pressure to hustle. I ended up skiing around the exact same time as my partner. That was one of the biggest mistakes I made that day

This refers to the looker's left avalanche.
