One of my partners triggered this soft slab around 3:00 pm in a shrubby area SE of Reynolds Peak. The new snow was not bonding well to the old snow and slid on a crust about 10"-16" below. Everyone in our party of four observed this crust on the way up Mill D and it seemed to disapear at the the higher elevations between Reynolds Peak and Toms Hill. We skied the east ridge of Reynolds then continued down to a south facing aspect at the top of Reynolds Gulch. We skied one at a time through this vegitated area and the first of our group to ski down triggered it. It is unclear how far the avalance propagated, though it was not large enough to carry or bury him and he was able to dig his skis into the old crust. The slope angle was 30°-35° and extremly vegatated . This week I'll be on the lookout for this crust at the low elevations and on south facing aspects at higher elevations and avoid any slope over 30° where it is observed.
