Advisory: Uintas Area Mountains | Issued by Craig Gordon for Wednesday - March 15, 2017 - 3:31am |
---|
current conditions A few high clouds drifted into the region late last night and temperatures are a couple degrees warmer than yesterday at this time, registering in the low to mid 30's. Winds switched to the west and southwest around lunchtime yesterday and are blowing 20-30 mph along the high ridges. Riding and turning conditions are aspect and elevation dependent. Upper elevation sunny slopes are still slightly punchy, but the corn harvest is in full swing on low and mid elevation south facing terrain and will go off a bit earlier today. On the north half of the compass, you'll still find patches of dense, creamy snow on wind sheltered, upper elevation slopes. Real time wind, snow, and temperatures for the Uinta's are found here Snowpack observations and trip reports are found here. Huge thanks to BCA and all of you for helping to support the Are You Beeping, beacon checking program. Located near the Noblett's Trailhead, this is just one of the checkpoints you'll see at major trailheads throughout the range. |
recent activity No new avalanche activity to report from yesterday. A full list of Uinta avalanche activity is found here. |
weather Sunny, warm, and windy weather is on tap for the region today with highs reaching into the low 50's. West and southwest winds blow in the 20's and 30's with gusts to 40 mph along the high ridges. Warm and windy tonight with a weak system sliding into the area for Thursday, knocking temperatures down a few degrees and ushering in scattered snow showers. High pressure builds for the end of the week with a better looking shot of snow for late Sunday and Monday.
