Avalanche Advisory
Advisory: Skyline Area Mountains Issued by Brett Kobernik for Wednesday - February 15, 2017 - 6:54am
bottom line

The avalanche danger is generally LOW. Avoid being on steep slopes and terrain traps such as steep gullies if you are experiencing the snow becoming really wet.

current conditions

Shady slopes are still holding cold dense soft snow. Actually, it has been faceting a bit and there is some surface hoar also. This makes this cold snow feel loose. This surface snow is something we'll want to pay attention to prior to the weekend's anticipated snow storm. The current surface has the potential to act as a weak layer on the more northerly facing slopes once it's buried. We'll monitor it over the next few days to see how it progresses. Perhaps it will be no concern but it did catch my attention today.
