Comments
The south side of Bald Mt. has very little snow and people were still using the summer trail to hike.
Not much snow walking along the ridge line of Murdock Peak.
Some of these gullies off the ridgeline are some of the first places people will get into once more snow arrives. It is quick and easy access from the highway which is still being maintained.
I was finding some very shallow weak sugary snow at the ground with a couple of melt freeze crusts mixed in. Possibly a very isolated avalanche hazard here with a good shot of snow and some wind.
This is not a good place to get caught, even with a small shallow avalanche.
Not much snow in the western Uintas. Some of the deepest snow I found was to the top of my boots in shady north facing gullies. There is some shallow weak sugary snow on the ground and a couple of crusts on top. Not much in the way of an avalanche hazard right now, but with some decent snow amounts and some wind there could be an isolated area where the hazard is elevated.
