The snow in Mill Creek seemed to densify a bit from yesterday's (March 4) storm snow - maybe with this morning's sun/heat? - and consolidate a bit so there was less bouncing off the bottom, but it didn't form into a cohesive slab, at least where I was. That said, the bond to the old snow - conveniently color-coded by the dirt layer about 8-10 inches down that also coated my car and my house windows - seemed to provide a pretty good sliding surface and the new snow came off that pretty easily. I wasn't worried about it today, but with the well-advertised new load coming in Thursday (with wind overnight Wed) I will be conscientious about that interface, and I think it'll be important to think of the "old" (Tuesday) snow and the new (Thursday-plus) in total, since there was such a short break between the storms. It sounds like this storm will be coming in right-side up, but not sure how that will interface with the snow that fell yesterday with some kinda weird densities and depths (depending on location and elevation).
The south faces got a slight zipper crust from the Wed morning sun, but I would bet that will be crushed away by the new snow and again it'll be kinda all new snow on top of the slippery hard dirt layer even on the south aspects.
I'm hopeful that the new snow will finally put enough snow between me and the PWL's to put them to bed as a concern, but it'll remain to be seen if the new load will start triggering those PWL's first/instead.
