Comments
Ventured out to see how the new snow and old snow are getting along, and it was clear that the two have some relationship-building to do and could use a little bonding time. From the safety of the ridge, we had several remotely triggered avalanches on mainly North to East facing slopes ranging from 25ft to 200ft in width. These avalanches were failing on the old rotten Oct-Nov snow. While the slab was not incredibly strong where we were (F-, the weak layer was incredibly weak.
Photo: A cleaned-up crown to a smaller (25ft wide) remotely triggered avalanche at 9500ft NE Facing.
Video: Remotely triggered while ascending. East Facing slope at 9700ft.
