Today we were poking the line between overloading the PWL with new snow. Lots of collapsing and cracking all over the place. I got a number of huge collapses (100ft diameter) going through the trees and meadows west of Little Water. Frequent cracking but seemed to run no further than 10 feet. One of the more interesting things though was that I didn't get much cracking/collapsing on slopes >27 degrees which could be due to the widespread skier compaction prior to the storm. One thing that did concern me a lot was that I got a couple good collapses and cracking after the 5th time up the skintrack which proves the point that just because there's tracks in an area, it doesn't mean it's safe to ride.
I suspect the PWL will be reactive for the next couple days and then adjust to the new load. Looking throughout the CC, I didn't see any natural activity once the clouds parted, but I'm sure there will be some human triggered avalanches the next couple days. We need a good storm to get widespread activity from this layer.

Problem #2 Comments
There was a lot of snow being moved around by this storm. Last night I could hear the winds blowing very strong outside and once I got up in the mountains today, they were still howling and transporting a lot of snow. There were a couple decent sized windslabs out there today (and likely widespread windslab in more exposed areas) but they were unreactive.

Started my tour around 0845 after listening to some high winds and thunder last night. Trailhead was in the upper 20s this morning and wind was blowing hard at all elevations. Snow was falling steadily till around 1100 when the skies started to break. Winds remained strong but continued to die down throughout the day. Looking at the trees, there is around a 1/4" of rime from winds out of the west. On the ground, there was a mix of snow and graupel. All this is to say that this storm had some strong winds and was warm. Got lots of big collapses and some cracking in the trees on the way up. Skiing was decent and didn't get any collapsing or cracking (possibly due to the skier compaction). There seemed to be around 6" of new, light snow in most places. W and SW facing slopes were a mix of wind loaded and wind scoured based on local terrain. Lots of wind loading on E and NE facing slopes. New Snow didn't seem to create a soft/storm slab. I'd be more concerned about sluffing and small wet loose avalanches in select areas.
