Comments
Just sharing some photos of the snow (and dirt) from some popular 'go to' spots. Pics in order are of Reynolds south face, Reynolds NE face, Gobblers south face, looking east down the east shoulder of Reynolds towards Toms Hill, and the Mill D Lees Fork approach I took. NE face of Reynolds has 6-7 inches of faceted snow to the ground at 9350'. NE proper has a 1-2" wind slab on top of the facets. Just to the right of that where the slope bends true north and the wind crust goes away and surface hoar is forming. Then to the skiers right of that as the aspect turns east down the shoulder, there is a widespread semi supportable melt freeze crust. Interesting to see to the surface variation off the same peak all within a number of feet from each other. Regardless of what the top layer is however, what lies below down to the ground is all the same and won't take a load when if finally snows.
