Comments
No big surprises here. The current dry spring weather is a fairly straightforward problem list. Previous loose wet slides were abundant this morning, of a range of sizes, at pretty much all aspects and elevations, releasing from ridge lines and rocks. Too many to count or provide photos of it all.
Cornices are still hanging around; some are starting to droop, and here and there a few have dropped.
If I were on the hunt for glide avalanches, I'd put the Chilly Peak slabs and perhaps the lower flanks of Mount Ogden's east face on my list.
Pictured here is a NW facing slope around 9250 feet where there's evidence of some small cornice fall as well as wet avalanche activity. This sort of thing abounds. Luckily, the corn and mashed potatoes skiing is good mid-morning, and by the time daily heating starts to increase the avalanche hazard around noon, the snow is sloppy anyway.
